Fatigue and Creativity

I know we are smart people and I know we didn’t realistically expect that the end of 2020 would end all the issues we saw in 2020, but I still desperately thought it could be different. Some would call this stupid optimism.

It feels like there is no end in sight and we are still very tired. Fatigued. Does that sound like you? Despite feeling so weary with the world I have started doing some activities that help.

  • In the last few months of 2020 I started lifting heavy weights twice a week. It makes me feel good and happy and bad ass. I highly recommend feeling bad ass.
  • Got my road bike fixed and have ridden it twice in the last week (and will continue if I don’t lose my mojo). I’m still slow, but I love the social part, riding with women and sometimes having a coffee at the end.
  • A friend gave me a voucher for Christmas after lecturing me on self-care. You know who you are ;) I used it during the Christmas break and have had a couple of massages since. I can attest that a massage on a Sunday afternoon is a good thing.
  • Focusing on things that I can develop and be creative with, and have a voice. Cue the creation of my podcast A Dog Called Diversity. It’s been a great outlet and I have been introduced to the most wonderful people with great stories. Connecting with new people and learning is good for the soul. The episode with Nancy Kwon is a good laugh!
  • I’m trying to get out and see more of Singapore. Despite living here for 6 years I had never really been to Chinatown during the Chinese New Year celebrations. This week I took a leave day and took off to take some photos. I’m loving that dragon in the photo.

What have you been doing that helps with Covid-19 fatigue? Would love to hear from you. .
